The snowball effect (part 2)

Now here’s where my attention is really captured...

Chronologically, God has told us people blew it (Ro 1.23), worshipping images of man, birds, animals, and creeping things. Then, secondly, it got worse with shameless sexual acts contrary to nature (Ro 1.26-27). And now, thirdly, we see the snowball kept rolling enough for God to mention the next 21 sins on His list.

Romans 1:29-32

They were filled with ...
  1. all manner of unrighteousness

  2. evil

  3. covetousness

  4. malice

  5. They are full of envy

  6. murder

  7. strife

  8. deceit

  9. maliciousness

  10. They are gossips

  11. slanderers

  12. haters of God

  13. insolent

  14. haughty

  15. boastful

  16. inventors of evil

  17. disobedient to parents

  18. foolish

  19. faithless

  20. heartless

  21. ruthless

I’m not pointing my crooked finger at anyone except for the guy in the mirror.

It’s so easy to get stuck on the reigning rainbow wave, and to apply Romans 1.26-27 to it, as if it were something new. The Greeks were doing it way back when, the Romans thought it cool—Nero, Julius Cesar, and the bunch of them. Lots of folks from centuries past.

I am not, by any stretch of the imagination, saying that that minimizes it. But, I am suggesting we do not get caught up pointing a self-righteousness finger at this whole gender confusion craze, and skip over the next 21 things God is saying, as if they did not pertain to you and me.
