Continuing in the six “When” stories from Mt 8, I see three that deal with surprises.
I don’t know if it is even newsworthy, because Jesus surprises us from the first verse of Genesis all the way through to the last chapter of Revelation. He’s a man with lots of astonishing things up His sleeve, and they are revealed across all 66 books.
Be that as it may, allow me to call this new revelation surprising, so I can feel as though I came up with something clever, something cool, something…. surprising (I wonder if you knew that that was coming!).
Three Surprise in Mt 8:
“Master, I want to follow You.”But have you really thought about it? Are you truly willing to give up your den and your nest and walk away from family?
“Wow. Who is this guy that even the winds and waves obey Him?”
Demons were expelled, two men regained their right minds, some pigs drowned, and “all the city came out to meet Jesus.”
Wow! Surely it is revival time.
Au contraire. They said to Jesus, “Would you please just get back in that boat of yours and leave us as we were?”
