This photo is from was Veronica’s “adios” to radiation. Hooray hooray! She is so happy—we are all so happy—that she is back home after six weeks of treatment) Veronica is doing well!
Thanksgiving is right around the corner. It is always a special day for the Schultz family—well perhaps not quite so much last year when we were shut in with COVID, but we are ready this year! Many of our 15 kids and their families are planning to gather in our home. Ruthie is here already, as is my sister from Massachusetts. We are expecting AJ to arrive later today, and Moises (family of four) later this week. We love it!
Then, I am off to Monterrey, one of Mexico’s most forward-thinking and successful cities. A group of churches is doing their 35th annual mission conference. I was a speaker a few years ago, and this year they invited some of their old fogeys to come again, and I am honored to be on that list. (Although I am not an old fogey, I just happened to be born a lot of years ago.)
I am, of course, writing to ask you to pray, as I always do. But this time I have a confession to make: I have not prepared well. We just wrapped up Thanksgiving week, and what a wonderful week it was, with a truly special day of thanksgiving as many from our family flew in from far away cities Mexico. My sister, Valerie, also came out from Massachusetts to join us. So, some things got put on the back burner.
So here I am, asking you to step up to the plate for me. But more for them, for the churches. One church is 5,000 members strong, one of the largest in the country. A couple others also have a few thousand people. These churches were at the forefront of sending missionaries to the field back in the day. One of their leaders tells me they have lost a lot of that umphhh over the years, and urged me to speak with that in mind.
It’s a good challenge, I am honored, and thrilled.
