Keep those claws in

Peter begins 1 P 2.13-17--his section on submission--similar to Paul in Ephesians 5 and 6.

“Submission” is a term that tends to get our old rebellious nature to stick out it's claws.

But it serves to remind me that (1) God is a God of order. Some people are hats, other are gloves, t-shirts, or sandals. (Get with the game plan.)

And (2) it is essential that we have protection from the dark powers that be, having headship over us is one of the principal ways that happens.

Be subject for the Lord's sake to every human institution… [2.13]

Live as people who are free… [2.16]

Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor. [2.17]
