It’s nice that we are so much smoother than the disobedient back in Jeremiah’s day.

Pashhur the priest did not like the word from God that he was hearing, so he put Jeremiah in the stocks. (20.2)

We, on the other hand, when we get uncomfortable with what God is saying, just put our Bible on the shelf, and execute punishment by letting it get dusty there, untouched.

Deut 17.18-19 is where I see that I am to read my Bible every single day.
