Confusing?

Ever wonder why some people say the book of Romans is confusing?

Maybe for things like this:

In 3.1 the question is asked, what advantage does the Jew have and what good is circumcision?

The answer in verse 2 surprises me: Much in every way.

OK, Got it… maybe.

Then I come to 3.9:

What then? Are we Jews any better off?

Obviously, yes.

Much in every way, like Paul just told us in v 2.

Hold your horses a moment.

Here the answer is: No, not at all.

Hmmm.
