The past few weeks have been a wild ride. COVID-19 arrived at our home the second Sunday of November, and we are still in the battle. All four of us tested positive—myself, Veronica, Rachel (16), and Rajim (13). My sister had come from Massachusetts to spend a couple of weeks and Thanksgiving with us, and those two weeks turned into almost four as she also tested positive.
Veronica was close to death. Our kids rallied and Keem has been nursing her back to health on a hospital bed in the living room. Crisis is past, the journey is not.
This sounds sloppy to say this, but it has been a special time of family closeness, of watching out for each other, of being together and pulling together.
And Jesus has been so splendid, so gracious, new mercies each morning. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord camps around His people. And we are very cognizant that one day in His presence tops one thousand or a million not in His presence, and we trust, rejoice and give thanks.
You do so bless us with your generosity. We thank you, and we thank God for your response to Him, towards us. We are humbled. For 46 years of marriage we have walked by faith and the whole experience is an adventure that does not cease to surprise me. Never.
I ask you to pray… Veronica’s body is free from the virus but has lots of strengthening and healing yet. I feel like I am on the road to recovery but so have a lot of other people “felt” that, and it just wasn’t so. My challenge is to take it easy. I find it hard to take it easy, so I will ask you to pray for me for that.
Thank you for being part of what God has been doing all these years—and continues to do—here in Mexico
