A study in contrasts

Peter stepped out of the boat. It was a step of faith that began well but soured quickly when he looked at those nasty waves and felt the wind in his face. 

The man went down!


Abraham had faith to believe he would be the father of many nations (Ro 4.18-19), and even the sight of his century-old, dilapidated body, could not shake that faith. 


Peter’s hiccup of faith sent him sinking into the waves while Abraham’s faith, on the other hand, made him wave-resistant (Ro 4.20): 

No unbelief made him waver…”
