A lesson in trust

As He send them out, still in Mt 10, Jesus tells the twelve what not to take.

No credit cards, no extra cash. (10.9)

Mark only mentioned copper; Luke, just gold. But Matthew, who carried a distinct interest in all things money, (not necessarily in a bad way), more literally wrote “no gold or silver or copper.” He covers all the bases.

And the ex-taxman was the only writer who tells us that Peter caught a fish with a coin in its mouth. Matthew just can’t help himself, he likes that kind of stuff.

But anyways, why no money?

Simple.

Jesus is training.

And this lesson is not about how to handle funds, nor how to raise support.

It is about learning to trust God.

Veronica and I have been there, done that.

In fact, we are there!
