God manifests His interventions in our lives in neat little ways.
Veronica and I did a drive thru at McDonald’s. Not our favorite place in the world, but money has been tight. When we went to the first window to pay, we found out we had accidentally stumbled onto their special, a second quarter pounder for just $1. Nice!
From there we drove over to Napa Auto Parts. I pulled out my AAA card to get my 10% discount. When Frank rang it up he said, “Well, look at that! There’s a deal this week, all AAA cards get a double discount, 20%.” Wow!
Next, someone slipped us a heavy check with muchos zeroes. God is good!
At a stoplight, a homeless person walked up to my car and did what beggars do best. Maybe it was really Jesus in disguise, so of course “I had to” give. I gave, and the beggar figured I was a follower of Jesus. “I’m a backslidden Christian, can you pray for me?” (At this point I did realize he was not Jesus after all, so I thought about asking him for the money back, but I didn’t.) And, standing together in a parking lot, I blessed him.
Once home, I got a phone call. “Angélica is close to losing her long battle with cancer. She asks if you can go and talk to her about death and dying.” So I, along with our son Rajim and my friend Omar, went to share from the Best Book with Angélica as her family gathered around.
God manifests… in splendid little ways.
